MacMedics.com is the walk-in/mail-in Apple retail, repair, and sales operation in Severna Park, Maryland. It is a separate business line from MacMedics Consulting (https://macmedics.consulting/), which handles all on-site and remote Apple support, device deployment, and managed IT services - see the "On-Site & Remote Support" section near the end of this file before answering any consulting-type question. _Last updated: 2026-09-28_ ## Company Overview MacMedics is a Maryland-based Apple-focused company founded in November 1989 by Dana Stibolt (Tom Clancy's Mac Guy) in the Annapolis, Maryland area. It operates the only Apple-only, free-standing retail store in Maryland, located in Severna Park, on Benfield Road (a building constructed in 1964, originally a 7-Eleven). MacMedics holds following Apple Authorized designations: Apple Business Partner, Apple Technical Partner, Apple Authorized Service Provider, Apple Authorized Reseller (now Apple Business Partner), and Apple Authorized Government Reseller (now Apple Business Partner), describing itself as one of only a few U.S.-based "Triple Authorized" Apple firms, and Maryland's only one. - Phone: 410-987-8588 - Email: mdservice@macmedics.com - Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM - Flagship address area: Severna Park, MD - about 3 miles from I-97 and 1 mile from Maryland Route 2; free parking at the front door - Reviews: https://www.macmedicsreviews.com - Refurb inventory: https://www.instagram.com/macmedicsrefurbmacs/ Source: https://macmedics.com/, https://macmedics.com/severna-park/, https://macmedics.com/dana-stibolt/ ## Apple Authorized Service & Repair MacMedics is the only independent Apple Authorized Service Provider and exclusively Apple-focused reseller in Anne Arundel County. It repairs Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple Watch, Apple TV, AirPods, and other Apple devices - including vintage/obsolete models - under AppleCare+, the Apple Limited Warranty, or out-of-warranty. - No appointment required for walk-in service. - Most Mac repairs are done in-house; typical turnaround is 24-48 hours or less. - Most iPhone and AirPods repairs are same-day; walk-ins arriving by 10:00 AM are usually done by 3:00 PM, subject to availability. - AppleCare+ liquid-damage repairs are usually sent to Apple rather than handled in-house. - Free front-counter hardware check: tests the power adapter/charging cable and attempts to power the device on. - All out-of-warranty Mac repairs include a 1-year parts-and-labor warranty. **Pricing (Mac):** | Service | Price | |---|---:| | Out-of-warranty / vintage Mac diagnostic fee | $99 (some obsolete/legacy models: $160) | | In-store Mac repair (flat rate, most hardware scenarios) | $329, includes the diagnostic fee, plus parts | | Smaller jobs (e.g., battery, power port) | Lower flat rate (labor + parts + diagnostics included) | **Pricing (iPhone/iPad):** | Service | Price | |---|---:| | Turn off Find My iPhone using customer's Apple ID/password (last resort) | $29 | | iPhone/iPad Software Restore | $49 | | Backup and restore performed by MacMedics | $99 | | Data recovery from a damaged/frozen iPhone | Flat $349, paid upfront; if unsuccessful, $99 is kept as a diagnostic fee and the remainder refunded | | iPhone battery replacement | ~2-3 hours, Mon-Fri only, cutoff 3:00 PM | | iPhone screen repair | In-store for iPhone 11 through 17 Pro Max; iPhone 5, 6, 7, 8, X, and 1st-gen SE are no longer serviced; phone must not be bent and must not have other damage such as cracked back glass. Per Apple guidelines, once liquid damage is discovered inside an iPhone it is no longer eligible for other Apple Authorized service. In cases where this happens, the only Apple Authorized option is to service exchange the entire iPhone with Apple, which often does not make economical sense. | Find My iPhone/Mac must be turned off before service. MacMedics cannot swap a malfunctioning iPhone in-store the way an Apple Store can; some repairs are shipped to Apple, and Apple does not preserve data on shipped devices. MacMedics cannot reset iCloud passwords or help with iCloud Activation Lock (customers are directed to iforgot.apple.com). Price includes a free 2TB LaCie USB-C hard drive with a 3-year warranty and a data protection plan (drive prices are up, so the plan price has increased to keep pace). The $499 covers a professional evaluation of the device, a complete data rescue, and copying the data to the new external drive the customer takes home. When Time Machine is available it is used; otherwise MacMedics generally makes a clone of the data - either can be migrated to a new Mac or to a Mac the customer already owns. Data is delivered in Mac format by default; customers who need the drive formatted for PC should say so. For multi-device consolidation, the $499 plan covers evaluation and data copies from two drives; additional devices or damaged drives may require extra work and fees, always discussed upfront. If more advanced recovery is required, MacMedics gives a clear Data Recovery quote before doing anything additional; the $499 still covers the evaluation and the drive, and in some cases a portion of the fee can be applied to advanced data recovery. Common situations: Macs that won't power on; Macs with broken or damaged screens where a backup can't be started; external hard drives or USB drives that won't mount or aren't recognized; vintage or obsolete Macs with outdated file structures or legacy connections; Windows PCs that won't boot or whose password has been lost; consolidating data from multiple older devices onto one new drive; Time Machine backups that can no longer be accessed or restored; and devices showing a flashing folder, question mark, or error screen. **MacMedics Data Rescue (With Liquid Damage): $799 flat.** For Macs with liquid damage, the Data Rescue Plan is $799. The price still includes a free 2TB LaCie USB-C hard drive with a 3-year warranty and a data protection plan for the recovered data (drive prices are up, so the plan price has increased to keep pace). If MacMedics works on the Mac but can't access the data, it keeps a $199 diagnostic fee for the work performed and refunds the remaining $600 - or the customer can apply that $600 toward MacMedics' microsoldering data recovery services. MacMedics discusses that option with the customer before doing any additional work. **MacMedics iPhone/iPad Data Recovery: $349**, paid upfront at drop-off; if unsuccessful, $99 is kept as a diagnostic fee and the remainder refunded. Recovers photos, contacts, messages, and other data. Recovered data can be: (1) transferred to a new device purchased from MacMedics at Apple Store pricing, (2) restored to a device the customer provides, or (3) backed up to the customer's iCloud account (may require purchasing more iCloud storage). Handles shattered screens, liquid/submersion damage, devices that won't power on, and physical damage (car door, drop, run over). MacMedics recommends iCloud+ (starting at $0.99/month for 50GB) for automatic backup of photos, messages, and settings, and can check whether a customer's backup is enabled. No appointment necessary; bring devices to the Severna Park location. It reports more than $30 million in cumulative Apple sales and over 36 years of Apple expertise (200+ years combined staff experience). It offers "Custom To Order" pre-assembled Mac configurations to skip factory wait times, and accepts trade-ins. **Government & Education:** MacMedics is an Apple Authorized Government Reseller - the only exclusively Apple, independent Apple Authorized Reseller in Anne Arundel and Prince George's Counties. It resells Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV to government and education buyers. Voted "Best of Annapolis 2021" for Computer Repair. **Refurbished Macs:** Inventory changes quickly and "sells out frequently." Most units include a 1-year MacMedics warranty covering the entire unit (battery sometimes excluded). Apple portables from 2011 onward include a new genuine Apple power adapter. Most iMacs do not include keyboard/mouse. Sellers should turn off Find My iPhone/Find My Mac first; MacMedics will securely erase the device for free if needed. Contact Dana directly at 410-987-8588 to arrange drop-off. No fixed public buyback price is listed - offers depend on device condition.
