A little old-school Mac data-recovery magic.
In this photo, I was rescuing data from a dead Mac by removing its internal hard drive and connecting it externally. On many older Macs, that could turn a seemingly catastrophic failure into a successful recovery.
Today’s Macs are built very differently. In most newer models, storage is integrated into the logic board, so a serious hardware failure can make data recovery far more difficult—or sometimes impossible.
That is why I no longer consider a single Time Machine backup enough. Time Machine is an excellent first line of defense, but every important Mac should also have a separate Backblaze backup as part of a layered backup plan.
One local backup ( suggest TWO Time Machine backups) + one independent cloud backup (Backblaze) = much better protection for your photos, documents, and business data.
Do not wait for a dead Mac to find out whether your backup is really working.
