It’s sad when the bad guys don’t even have to “try” to create a carefully curated #phishing email. The good thing for them is that people still fall for them all the time. We had a customer who lost $17,000 due to an email like this, and when they called the number in the #PayPalSCAM email the bad guys switched it from my PayPal scam to a banking scam and our customer (a former CPA!) didn’t even notice and that customer ended up feeding $17,000 worth of $100 bills into a bitcoin ATM machine in Pasadena at a gas station!
The crazy thing is the customer service phone number that’s listed in this fake email. I doubt even works. It’s just 888-888-8888! The phone number the bad guys want you call is at the bottom.
Maybe “Smuggle Co” is a clue to the nature of the email. Who is the owner? Han Solo? #starwars
