We occasionally see customers unnecessarily open up these iMacs for no reason. People often want to upgrade their hard drive and memory and reseal the machine with third-party adhesive, which is lower quality than the Apple adhesive. Then, when summertime comes, the LCD, which was previously adhered to the machine, the adhesive warms up in their house when the air conditioning is not running or turned way up, and the display can fall off the iMac. If you are servicing an iMac ensure you remove ALL of the Apple adhesive altogether before applying the third-party adhesive. This customer scraped too hard when trying to remove the old adhesive and damaged the inside of his display by removing some of the black coating.
