When I got the call asking what could be done about a stolen iPhone from Millersville, Maryland, my first question was, did you have “Find my iPhone” turned on. The caller said, “yes.” I asked if he had turned that info over to the Police, he said he had. So I asked if they were doing anything about it? Since the “Find my” info can be limited. The phone was in the Gaithersburg area, so I told him to call the Police in that area. He did, and the Police were able to locate his iPhone along a road in the area.
Here in the shop, where we have to have “Find my iPhone” switched off for Apple Authorized Service, we run into many folks who don’t have it on. In the case above, if the “Find my iPhone” were off, the person would not have been able to recover their iPhone.
