Everybody thinks they’re under control with their iPhone until they’re not. Hey, Mac friends. It’s Dana here from MacMedics again. I got another great tale of woe for someone who thought they were in control with their iPhone and found out the hard way that they were not. So here is the patient, and you can see this phone is absolutely destroyed. It, got ran over by a car, and the customer that owns this phone was not backed up. There’s a better picture of it. You can see it’s concave. Not a good look for an iPhone. This is why you need iCloud backup. It’s only a dollar a month to start. Apple tricks you because they give you five gigabytes for free. But once those five gigabytes run out, you have to pay the dollar a month if you want your stuff in the cloud, and you do. As the undertaker of iPhone and Mac data in the area, I get to see people in bad situations like this every day, and boy, wouldn’t these people have loved to be backed up. I don’t even know if I can get the data off of this phone. It’s so badly damaged. If you get the iCloud backup, you can share it with everybody in your family. You can share the dollar a month plan. there’s also a plan called Apple One, which includes Apple Fitness, Apple Music, Apple News, as well as two terabytes of iCloud backup and Apple TV, and you can share that with up to five other people, and they don’t even have to be in your family. Anybody. Do it. Take my word for it. You want to be backed up, especially in the summer. You’re by the pool, someone pushes you in, or one of my customers was on a sunset cruise in Costa Rica, but he follows my advice. He backed up at the lodge before he left on the sunset cruise in Costa Rica, and he dropped his phone in the Pacific Ocean and all he lost were the pictures from the cruise. But his wife had pictures. He got back to the United States. He bought a new phone. He restored from iCloud. Presto. All his data was saved, minus the photos he took on the cruise.
