Never let someone tell you that your data is gone for good w/o a second opinion!

Flashback to 2014! Never let someone tell you that your data is gone. We see situations like this on a regular basis!

Also, there is a big difference between data rescue and data recovery! It’s like going to the Emergency Room for a $1000 Band-Air when you could have just gone to your doctor or urgent care for the same treatment at a fraction of the cost!

In #DataRecovery news. Another IT firm ran a “forensic scan” on a Mac mini’s hard drive and told the customer that the hard drive was dead. Plus, they left some cables unplugged inside the unit. We have it here at MacMedics and gave it a little love, and the Mac mini is just fine. The Mac mini passes Apple’s service test and the client has all of their data. Cost for the work MacMedics performed was just $99. Plus, if the customer wants, we’ll setup and configure a new Time Machine backup drive for free!

Also keep in mind that if you do get a bad diagnosis on a data recovery situation don’t dispose of the device! I often speak to customers who speak of a past data recovery situation and they’re like “Oh yeah, the Apple Store told me it was gone.” or “Someone else said it was never gonna’ be recovered” and then they disposed of the device. Having me check a device that’s been previously designated as unrecoverable is very low cost and if you need the data is totally worthwhile!
